Témiscouata at the Top of U20 Broomball in Canada

Temiscouata has firmly stamped its name on the national stage after a dominant showing at the 2026 U20 Broomball National Championships, held last week at Carleton University in Ottawa.

The Quebec region emerged as the tournament’s biggest story, capturing gold in both the boys and girls categories and signaling what could be the beginning of a new era in Canadian youth broomball.

In the girls division, a new champion was crowned for the first time in four years—but it didn’t come easy. TMiss, representing the Temiscouata region, ended the dominant run of the Debden Roadrunners with a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Eeyou Istchee United in a tightly contested final. Despite the scoreline, the game was a battle from start to finish, with strong defensive play and goaltending on both sides keeping the outcome uncertain until the closing moments.

Eastern Thunder of Ontario claimed the bronze medal, defeating the former four-time champions, Debden, and underscoring the shift in the division’s competitive balance.

The boys tournament told a different story—one of continued dominance. The Blitz, also from Temiscouata, captured their fifth consecutive national title with a narrow 2–1 win over fellow Quebec side Amigos. The final was tightly contested, with Amigos making an impressive debut appearance at nationals and pushing the defending champions to the limit.

Despite the loss, the Amigos’ goaltender delivered a standout performance and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, highlighting the team’s resilience and promise.

The Blitz’s undefeated run throughout the tournament further cements their status as a powerhouse program. With five straight championships, questions are already emerging about the beginnings of a dynasty in U20 broomball.

With both titles heading back to Temiscouata, the 2026 championships may be remembered as a defining moment for the region—one where it rose to the summit of Canadian broomball.
